Course Overview

The six years are split into 3 pre-clinical and 3 clinical years

The first three years in the Charles University First Faculty of Medicine (of the master’s degree in General Medicine) focuses heavily on preclinical theoretical knowledge.

 

In the first year Anatomy and Histology are the centre of the pupil’s studies with a unique course in dissections with real life cadavers (one of the few universities to offer this). The second-year concentrates of Biochemistry and Physiology and finally the third year focuses on Pathology and Pathophysiology

 

The clinical years (4,5,6) involve an array of placements and practical hospital experience, that puts into effect the theoretical knowledge the medics have acquired.

    Entrance Exam Layout at the first faculty of medicine

    The first faculty of medicine offers it’s 6-year General Medicine Program in English. The examinations will be held online and in person if Covid-19 restrictions are eased. The entrance exam is divided into 2 parts, a written section and an interview. 

    Stages of the Exam

    Part A - Written Exam

    An MCQ test in Physics, Chemistry and Biology with 25 questions in each subject. Each subject carries 100 points. 4 points are awarded if all correct answers to the question are selected and all incorrect answers remain unselected and the total score is out of 300. The exam has a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes

    Part B - Interview

    Students with the best results in the written test are invited for interviews conducted in the MMI (Multiple Mini Interview) format and this part of the entrance examination carries 30 points. Typically, a standard MMI consists of a series of six -ten “mini” interviews are conducted over a period of nearly two hours. Each mini interview includes a two-minute prep period before engaging in a conversation that lasts between five to eight minutes.
